DR PHUONG LEUNG
iCST Dementia Training and Consultancy is led by Dr Phuong Leung; she is a dementia researcher and has extensive clinical experience working with people with dementia, their carers, and healthcare professionals in facilitating iCST training nationally and internationally. Her research focuses on systematic reviews, designing, developing and evaluating cognitive and psychosocial interventions for people with dementia and their families.
Dr Phuong Leung joined the Division of Psychiatry, Faculty of Brain Sciences, University College London since 2011 and has been working in two major research programmes in dementia which included.
Her PhD was to design, develop, and evaluate the effects of carer-delivered iCST for people with dementia on carer wellbeing; a multi-centred randomised controlled trial. Dr Phuong Leung developed the iCST training and published numbers of academic papers in relation to cognitive and psychosocial interventions in dementia and is an author of the “Making Difference 3” a carer manual for iCST.
Prior to her dementia research career, she worked in the community for eleven years as a health and mental health promotion worker. Her community work has spanned from working with young to older vulnerable adults living with complex physical health, mental health problems and cognitive decline. She therefore will bring strong knowledge and understanding of health, mental health and social care to the training programme.

Dr Phuong Leung a keynote speaker at the 1st International Colloquium "Aging, Health and Citizenship" conference 2018 in Coimbra Portugal regarding "Making a difference 3” individual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy in dementia.
Dr Phuong Leung presented “The effects on carer well-being of carer involvement in cognition-based interventions for people with dementia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.” at the Alzheimer Disease International conference 2017- Kyoto, Japan
